Mission Planner is a professional project-scheduling application that runs entirely on your machine — no backend, no database, no account, and no internet connection required. Your work is saved locally and never leaves your computer, with automatic rotating on-disk backups and corruption recovery so your plans are safe.
Plan & schedule: build a hierarchical work-breakdown structure of tasks and milestones on an interactive Gantt chart with drag-to-reschedule and drag-to-link. Use all four dependency types (FS, SS, FF, SF) with lead/lag, task constraints (Start-No-Earlier-Than, Must-Start-On, Finish-No-Later-Than), deadlines, priorities, and critical-path highlighting, all on a configurable working calendar.
Resources & cost: manage a resource pool with rates, capacities, roles, and groups. Automatic resource leveling resolves over-allocations, while fixed costs and planned budgets drive financial reporting by resource and group plus earned-value tracking (planned vs. earned vs. actual, CPI/SPI, and an S-curve).
Track & analyze: capture multiple named baselines for schedule and cost variance, and monitor a project health scorecard (RAG status and KPIs), a resource-utilization dashboard, a multi-project portfolio view, and side-by-side project comparison. Manage many projects in one workspace with search, quick filters, date-range filtering, and column sorting.
Interoperate: import and export CSV, JSON, and XML, read Microsoft Project (.mpp) files, and print or export to PDF with page-fit and column options.

| Resource | Planned Budget | Actual Cost | Earned Value | Variance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Total | — | — | — | — |
Variance = Planned Budget − Actual Cost. Negative (over budget) values appear in orange. Planned Budget & EV are split evenly across a task's assigned resources; Actual Cost reflects each resource's own rate × hours (task fixed costs are listed separately and not attributed to a resource).
| Project | Tasks | % Done | Budget | Actual | EV | Variance | CPI |
|---|
Click a project name to open it. Cross-project totals are grouped by currency — values in different currencies are never summed together.
| Resource | Group | Capacity (hrs) | Allocated (hrs) | Utilization | Status |
|---|
Capacity = each resource's working days in the project span × their hours/day. Allocated = working hours of every assigned task (split when a task has several resources). Over-allocation also flags resources booked on overlapping tasks.
| Metric | Project A | Project B | Difference (B − A) |
|---|
“Difference” is B − A. For metrics where higher is better (e.g. % complete, CPI) green favours B; for cost/variance the colour reflects budget impact. Money is only differenced when both projects share a currency.
Drag & drop a file here
MS Project .xml · Mission Planner .json · Spreadsheet .csv
Have a .mpp file? Its binary format can’t be read in a browser. In Microsoft Project use File → Save As → “XML Data (*.xml)”, then import that .xml here — it carries tasks, hierarchy, dependencies, resources and costs.
JSON re-imports here without data loss — a workspace file holds all projects (your full backup, also saved with Ctrl+S); a single-project file can be shared with one team and re-imported to update that project. MS Project XML opens in Microsoft Project (File → Open). MS Project XML & CSV always export the current project.
